Dr. Alejandro Vázquez will join the faculty of the University of Tennessee in the Fall of 2023. He received a B.A. in psychology and a M.S. in clinical mental health counseling from Florida International University. He received his Ph.D. in 2023 in Combined Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Utah State University. He completed his pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Medical University of South Carolina within the child emphasis track. He is a bicultural/bilingual Cuban American and is comfortable providing Spanish language supervision. Dr. Vázquez has experience in providing evidence-based assessments and treatments for both children and adults in various settings (i.e., community outpatient, hospital inpatient, integrated primary care, schools, telepsychology). His clinical work is informed by cognitive-behavioral, behavioral, and transtheoretical models (e.g., Motivational Interviewing). He has particular expertise in evidence-based assessment and treatment of childhood mental health problems (e.g., anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional behavior, traumatic stress, autism). Dr. Vázquez is comfortable supervising both child and adult assessment/therapy cases.
