Cynthia Navarro Flores
I will join the University of Tennessee in the fall of 2023 after receiving my Ph.D. in Combined Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Utah State University. I received my B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). I completed my internship with the Charleston Consortium at the Medical University of South Carolina within the child emphasis track. I provide supervision in evidence-based treatment and assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. I am a bicultural/bilingual Mexican immigrant, and I would love to have the opportunity to supervise students working with Spanish-speaking clients. My clinical orientation is influenced by cognitive-behavioral, family systems, humanistic, and liberation approaches. In regard to therapy, I was trained as a generalist and thus have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with a range of presenting problems/issues (i.e., anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral problems, ADHD, autism, interpersonal distress). I specialize in working with children and adolescents, but I am comfortable supervising adult cases as well. I am comfortable supervising various therapy modalities including CBT, TF-CBT, third-wave interventions, and parenting interventions. I could also provide supervision for couples and families therapy (i.e., IBCT, EFT). I value cultural competency and humility in clinical work and emphasize this in supervision. I have experience working with marginalized communities (e.g., ethnic/racial, LGBTQ+, low-income) across various settings (i.e., outpatient, community agencies, schools, primary care, community outreach, teletherapy). In regard to assessment, I am comfortable supervising child, adolescent, and adult assessment cases for various presenting problems (e.g., learning disabilities, ADHD, autism).
